"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."(Marilyn Monroe)
Every person has their insecurities, and every person has their own opinions on themselves. There may be people in our lives that like to point out what they don't like about you; they nitpick at all of the things that make you special. The more they nitpick, the more we take their words to heart, and the more other people do, too.
I recently watched "The DUFF," and it got me thinking about the message it was trying to send. The people we are and the people we become are often affected by the world around us as the opinions of others try to define all that we stand for. In each of us, there are parts of ourselves that we hide, to avoid it being corrupted by what others might say to us. In each of us, there are weak parts that are open to other insecure people to make them feel better. In order for them to feel better about themselves, they take those insecurities and weak parts of other people and they show them off to eager eyes. Our insecurities are put on display by those who, deep down, feel just as insecure as we do.
There are going to be people in your life that want to tear you down by using your weaknesses against you, and there are gong to be people who see all of your insecurities as strengths. Choose the people who see the strength in you. Yes, we are all insecure, and yes, others use it to their advantage, but that won't stop us from living our lives. What they think of you, should NEVER impact how you think of yourself. The person that you will only truly please, is yourself. You can never be truly happy unless you are comfortable being who you are.
Use your insecurities to YOUR advantage. Let others know that you like who you are and that you are comfortable in your own skin. Don't let someone's opinion of you change who you are. Yes, you may try to fix all that you think is wrong, but in reality, you can't perfect perfection. Let people see the real you, the you that hides behind the mask, the you that stays in the crowd, the you that doesn't care what other people think. Let your insecurities shine because they are the most beautiful and original things about you.
